Moray Art Centre is delighted to announce that we have won a place on the final list of projects for The People’s Millions competition.
Our project will be featured on the ITV STV North regional evening new programme on 25 November 2008. Viewers will be asked to choose between our project “Alice In Wonderland Garden” and another project in our ITV regional news area. Voting details will be available from the 25 November on :www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/peoplesmillions
Winning the project will allow us to create an outside garden art studio where classes can draw and paint flowers, trees, fruit and vegetables. We also want to create a space where young people can learn about caring for the environment, growing plants and sustainable practices. A space where you would not only grow and draw plants but then eat them in the form of pizzas made in specially created outdoor ovens. As well as ovens to cook food, kilns will be built to fire clay art items made in the centre and a wood turning area where you could even learn to make plates for your pizza! Environmental learning tools like bug boxes and bird box cameras will allow people to get closer to wildlife and bat detectors and microscopes will bring a different view! The garden will also have a fun element in the style of “Alice In Wonderland Garden” with mazes, hidden areas and lots of surprises.
We also hope to create a sculpture garden which would show the work of local and international artists on a regular basis and of course somewhere just to sit and watch the garden grow!
