In this 1-day class participants will explore the traditional, creative medium of block-printing, creating a beautiful throw
The class is for those who want to learn the basics of block printing, and those with some experience. Students will learn about printing onto fabric, in this case a throw, using lino printing techniques to make repeat printing blocks printed onto fabric.

About the Tutor
Vivien Hendry has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Painting), and a MA in Printmaking. She has freelanced as an Artist/Printmaker, lecturing to degree level, teaching in adult education, editioning prints and letterpress for various artists including; Terry Frost, Bruce McLean, Adrian Wisniewski, Peter Howson, and writing for ‘Be Creative’ magazine.
She taught in Inner London Secondary Schools until 2006, whilst continuing to paint. During this period she became interested in working with pupils with learning and behavioural difficulties, becoming a Learning Mentor and gaining an R.S.A. Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties.
Since returning to Scotland she has been teaching part-time at Moray Art Centre and elsewhere, most recently being involved in the Story Walks’ project at Mortlach Primary, Dufftown producing a large scale batik piece (6m long) and an Artist’s Book with the children.
She has exhibited widely including Mercury Gallery, Edinburgh & London; Compass Gallery, Glasgow; Christies Contemporary Art, London; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; British Library, London; Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh.
Of her seven solo exhibitions to date, her work based on plant-form was shown at The Orangery, Kew Gardens in 1990, and most recently at Footprints, Hopeman, Summer 2011.
