‘Volunteering can be an exciting, growing, enjoyable experience. It is truly gratifying to serve a cause, practise one’s ideals, work with people, solve problems, see benefits, and know one had a hand in them.’

Volunteer Moray Awards

In recognition of some of the outstanding work of volunteers across Moray, in 2010 Volunteer Centre Moray issued awards to volunteers who went that extra mile. Two finalists and one winner for each category; categories included Volunteer of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year.

Moray Art Centre volunteers scooped up double awards! The finalists for Volunteer of the Year included James Black who volunteers regularly at Moray Art Centre despite health issues. The finalists for Young Volunteer of the Year included Nicolle Cordell who has successfully raised funds enabling Moray Art Centre to deliver services to young people, and the winner was Yvonne Murphy who has overcome personal difficulties and has turned her life around through her volunteering with Moray Art Centre.

Volunteer Centre Moray also decided to award an Organisation of the Year award drawing from their membership. The winner was Moray Art Centre in recognition for the development of their new volunteering programmes over the past year, the support and training available, and their support of the voluntary sector through the hosting and organising of events.
