Painting Between the Lines'
Tutor: Mary Black BA
Date and Time: Thursdays, 1.30-3.30pm, from 12 Jan for 4 weeks
Cost: £65 (includes basic materials and refreshments)
The aim is to develop the class’s painting abilities with the emphasis on enjoyment through artistic exploration and experimentation. Weeks 1 and 2 will create a ‘letterbox’ view of a still life, looking at negative and positive shapes, compositional arrangements, colour and tone.
Weeks 3 and 4 will create a mirror image from the first study using complimentary colours, contrasts, simplification and design. There will also be a short colour study exercise.
Although all abilities are welcome, the class is most suited to those who paint or sketch regularly (regardless of how successfully). It is most important to have a creative approach and enjoy the challenge of presenting artwork in traditional and non-traditional styles.
