Are you interested in learning to make your own prints with simple, black-and-white lino cuts?
We use soft-cut lino which is the consistency of Edam cheese.
Although drawing skills are helpful, and we can work on these in the class, they are not as necessary as you might think - there are plenty of tricks to the illustrators trade, including tracing so this class can be taken by complete beginners as well as the more experienced artist.
Moray Art Centre has a reference library which we will use to help inspire us, but you can also start to build an image library of your own, by collecting simple black-and-white pictures of all kinds, and bringing these along to the classes. These will give you ideas, and small bits of them can be copied into your own print designs.
If you are comfortable drawing, you can also keep a sketch book.
All materials will be included, although if you find you are enjoying the class and want to keep doing, you can get inexpensive cutting kits for your own on-going use and our tutor can advise you on this. You may also decide to bring in your own finer quality print paper for your finished prints towards the end of the course, but this is entirely up to you.
Jo is very enthusiastic to see what can be achieved together in discovering individual preferred styles, and seeing them evolve.
There is so much possible in printing now - this is just the start.
