A Weekend Workshop - Observation and Expression – Large Scale Head In Oils

2-day workshop to work with oil paints studying the head from life on a large panel

Tutor: Kenneth Le Riche

Date and Time: Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November 2018 - 09.30a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

Cost: £150

On this course students will use the 2-day workshop to work with oil paints studying the head from life on a large panel. To begin with, an empirical observant approach will be encouraged where students will take care to look. As the weekend progresses, a more passionate and individually expressive approach to painting will be developed. This will happen naturally as students use the oil paint more and more vigorously as an unrestrained record of their own process. It will be an opportunity for students to enjoy getting involved in pushing oil paints around to depict their personal experience of observing a sitter’s head. Colour, composition, mark-making, texture, and viscosity, will be looked at as well as a number of artists as guiding lights such as Van Gogh, Chaim Soutine, Lovis Corinth, Lucian Freud, Tai Shan Schierenberg and Jenny Saville amongst others.

All materials included though you can bring your own favourite materials including your own brushes.
