About the event

Join Georgia Rose Murray to hear about her polar research and painting stunning landscapes in Arctic locations.

Artist and Contemporary Art Lecturer GRM will describe several research journeys to Svalbard, specifically to witness natural light, darkness, and Arctic landscapes. Working alongside scientists she has learnt about climate change and, developed 'en plien air' techniques which allow her to rapidly respond to challenging environments. Observing natural colours, weather and seasonal changes is ultimately inspiring to Georgia. She uses sketchbooks, pens, water-based paint and sometimes homemade pigments, to capture her surroundings. Back in her Scottish studio she translates her holistic Arctic experiences, into large oil-based paintings on board, and sometimes creates films, lithographs, and screen-prints.

The talk includes a Q&A with Georgia and refreshments.

Tickets are sold on a donation based approach (if you would like some guidance on an amount to donate, we suggest a value of £3 per ticket)
