This workshop is perfect for those with an interest in printmaking but don't know where to start. Five Day Course: Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Materials and light lunch provided. Over the course of the week we will explore different methods of printmaking without a press to create a base knowledge to develop and use in your art practice. By trying each method in a hands on, practical session you will have a broad technical overview to start your printmaking journey. What will we cover? During the course you will experiment with basic stamp cutting, Lino printing, mono printing and textile block printing. We will look at the various types of Lino materials and their applications, ink preparation and mixing, print registration and print methods and basic textile block printing. We will also experiment with mono prints and mark making for mixed media pieces. You will learn the basics of each process and will be given the freedom to try new ways to create your own artwork. You will be given guidance and support through each process to further your artistic ability. You will be encouraged to develop your own ideas and produce a portfolio of prints. Do I need any particular skills? This course is suitable for complete beginners and perfect for anyone who would like to gain an insight into basic printmaking techniques. Basic drawing skills are an advantage. The course fee covers basic materials but you are welcome to take additional tools, papers and natural textiles should you wish. Please bring sketches, photographs or other visual resources as a starting point to the first session. Who will be teaching this course? This course will be taught by Hayley Anderson who works under the name Buff and Blue Prints. Hayley is a full time visual artist based in Lossiemouth and has taught classes in various establishments in the UK and United Arab Emirates. Mainly working in Lino prints, Hayley creates bold works inspired by botanical shapes integrated with patterns and figurative form. Hayley studied Fine Art at University of the Highlands and Islands.
