We fully understand the current financial climate and will be happy to discuss a payment plan for our 5-day workshops that will suit you. admin@morayartcentre.org In this course we will begin by considering composition, pose, proportions and shape, and how these elements within a portrait or figure painting combine to provide a basis and starting point from which to develop a painting. An interpretation of the sitter that incorporates likeness, presence, personality and mood. In support of this we will look at figure/portrait works by other artists and how their representations of the subject relate to something that is more than 'documentation'. We will learn the skills and techniques of oil painting and mediums, their versatility and forgiveness ( and sometimes limitations). You will be taught how to prepare grounds, how to evaluate colour, balance and temperature, tone and value and how they work together. We will work from a model and throughout the week as you progress and develop you will put into practice the skills that you have learned. Who is this course for? All levels welcome. Allan encourages all levels of ability to sign up. He is proficient in teaching beginners and skilled artists alike About Allan: Allan graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design with a BA Hons in Fine Art followed by an MFA Art and Humanities.
