Service Description

Have fun, bond with each other, make a mess away from home and learn how to create beautiful abstract art with the mindful practice of acrylic paint pouring. 1-Day Workshop Sunday 24th July 10:30am- 1:30 pm £45 - 1 adult & 1 child (5 and over) Materials included. This one-day workshop will bring body, mind and soul into alignment with a focus on making art in the moment. It will teach the basics of colour theory and mixing pigments, as well as the practice of pouring acrylics and incorporating other materials into the picture space. The meditative and chromotherapeutic qualities of both the method and the media will be explored; for example, participants will be encouraged to source colour inspiration from the chakras, from a birth stone or other crystal that suggests meaning or healing to them, or from intuition alone. This class is suitable for all abilities: the beauty of paint pouring is that embracing happenchance and going with the flow—quite literally—produce the most effective results. Participants will take home three truly unique abstract acrylic canvases, as well as additional pieces if time/resources allow. Nothing is wasted in this sustainability-conscious class, with instruction given on how to creatively reincorporate paint overspill and other artifacts of the process. About Joanna: Joanna Wilson’s art is a paradox of thoughtful drawing and exuberant expressionism. An award-winning artist of international acclaim, she grew up in Grantown-on-Spey before work and study took her far and wide, from the Hayward Gallery to Yale University. Her abstract figurative paintings sell on and can be found in private and public collections all over the world. But coming back to the place where it all began—and sharing with others the aspects of creating art that make life a little better—is what brings her the greatest reward.
